SMS opt-in policy

What we send by text, when, and how to stop.

Effective May 4, 2026.

fancy.fyi sends text messages only to people who have opted in. This page describes what those messages are, how often you can expect them, and how to stop receiving them at any time.

How you opt in

You opt in to SMS in one of two ways:

• You add a phone number to your fancy.fyi account and check the box agreeing to receive text messages from us. The checkbox is unchecked by default.
• A host invites you to an event by SMSusing a phone number you previously gave to that host. The first message tells you who is inviting you and includes the wording “Reply STOP to opt out.”

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. We never share your phone number with advertisers, list brokers, or anyone outside the vendors needed to deliver the messages (see our privacy policy).

What we send

• Event invitations. One message per invitation, with the event name, date, and a link to RSVP.
• RSVP reminders. Up to two reminders per event you have not yet responded to: one approximately seven days before, one approximately one day before.
• Event updates. If a host changes the time, location, or cancels an event you have RSVPd to, we send a single update message.
• Account notifications. Security-relevant messages such as a sign-in from a new device, sent only when you have explicitly enabled SMS for your own account.

Typical message volume per recipient is fewer than four messages per month, with bursts around an event you are invited to.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply. Carrier fees vary by plan and region. fancy.fyi does not charge you for sending or receiving these messages; charges from your wireless carrier are between you and your carrier.

How to stop

You can stop receiving SMS at any time, in any of these ways:

• Reply STOP to any message we send. We will send one final confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, then send no further messages to that number.
• Reply UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT, CANCEL, or OPTOUT. Same effect as STOP.
• Remove your phone number from your fancy.fyi account settings.
• Email hello@fancy.fyi and ask us to remove your number. We will confirm by reply within five business days.

If you opt out and later want to opt back in, you can re-enable SMS in your account settings or reply START to a previous message thread from us.

Supported carriers

We support all major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, and most regional carriers. Carrier delivery is best-effort; fancy.fyi is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Data and privacy

Your phone number, the messages we send to it, and your opt-in status are stored on the terms described in our privacy policy. The messaging service is operated for us by Twilio, Inc.; Twilio acts as our processor and may not use your number for any other purpose.
